Phoenix Suns install new, smaller luxury suites in arena
The Phoenix Suns, in an attempt to attract smaller businesses to US Airways arena, have begun construction of 16 theater-style boxes to their luxury suite level.
The new suites would be sold at a cheaper price than their larger counterparts, and ideally would create the much needed revenue the organization has been craving for 4 years, not only through seasonal contracts, but purchases through non-sporting events at the arena and companies who may seek to sponsor the boxes. NBC and Comcast are teaming up to rebrand the former Versus network into a 24-hour sports network.
The worry here is that in the long run TV rights will rise tremendously and will be passed down to the consumer. And with the reach of almost 50 million homes, Comcast has the ability to grow this venture quickly.
